Maharashtra Service Public Commission is administering authority, which conducts examinations for Maharashtra State Civil Services. Alongside conducting examinations for Maharashtra State Civil Services, it also conducts various other exams and selects candidates through various processes for service into various departments of Maharashtra State Government. Its head quarter is situated at Mumbai. It’s some basic functions are as follows: -
To conduct examinations for selection of candidates for different civil services of the state.
To provide advice to government on following matters if needed: -
Principals that should be followed while selecting candidates, granting promotions, making transfers to civil services and its various posts.
Methods that should be conducted for recruitment for civil service posts.
To provide judgment on claims made by civil servants, for recovery of charges incurred by injuries he sustained during ones service to state government.
To pass judgment on claim made by any employee for recovery of loss incurred to him while defending himself or herself against case filed in court for dereliction of duty while serving the state government.
Any issue referred to them by governor.
In addition to these functions, MPSC deals with following stuff in State Government of Maharashtra: -
It provides advice to Municipal Corporation of Mumbai related to selection of employees for posts with minimum basic pay of Rs.3930 and more.
It provides advises to Mumbai Electric Supply and Transport regarding appointments of candidates to posts of grade A – II.
It also conducts departmental examinations (Inter Departmental) for some departments of state governments for their employees and provides all advises related to examinations.
It also conducts examinations like Agriculture Service examination, Engineering Service Examination, Forest Service Examination (For the post of Asst. conservator of forest), Examinations for the posts of police sub-inspectors, stenographers’ examination and other similar exams like these.
